Week 1-Thursday (Matt)

Another brick in the wall...

Actually, it's the first brick of the year, and the first in a very long time. The plan called for 35/10, but I did a little more:

Bike 53:00 avg HR=130
Run 10:55 avg HR=149/HR@end=168

But the specifics are more interesting. I biked to the bowl (the Rose Bowl) in a roundabout way, hitting numerous lights, and slowly warming up. After an easy lap around (the road course around the Bowl is about 3.05 miles, and a great place to ride without worrying about intersections), I did a timed loop just for giggles. I went 9:08@145avgHR. This was OK, but back in the day I was able to do loops just under 9:00 for 90 minutes, and avg low to mid 150s. Let's just say I have a way to go to get back to that.
After biking easily back home, I changed into running gear, and set out. I really, REALLY forgot how bad you can feel running off the bike. After swearing to stretch more, the clunky legs were quickly replaced by labored breathing. Did I say "replaced"? I meant "joined by". Still, a fun time was had by all, or at least one.

Bike 15.4 miles@17.5mph avgHR=130
Run 1.5 miles@7:16/mile avg HR=149

Done for the day!
